Newmont Ahafo Development Foundation is set to embark on community projects in terms of factory development and expansion.
The foundation seeks to put focus on community development which is included in their responsibilities for advancement.
The Chairperson for the foundation, Madam Monica Nkrumah informed Otumfuo about the progress of the foundation during a visit to the Manhyia Palace.
She said, “The COVID pandemic hit them badly which affected the sales of gold prices and all but now they have resurged seeing an increment in gold prices.”
Their resurgence has enabled them to embark on their social responsibilities in the area of education.
“We’ve managed to grant scholarships which have seen the training of doctors, engineers, lawyers, etc. come through.
She added that “With economic empowerment, loans have been granted all over supporting businesses and skills of entrepreneurs.”
The Co-moderator for the Ahafo Social Responsibility Forum, Mr. Kwame Saarah Mensah was there at Manhyia and also expressed appreciation to Otumfuo for his advice which led them to revitalize the Development.
The Asantehene however reacted that, he was glad the business was on its feet and encouraged shared responsibility and a collaborative effort to maintain the pace in which they find themselves.
He counseled further that improvement is essential in business and to maintain and move beyond that, selflessness is required.
