Nana Konadu Yiadom I Remains Longest-Reigning Asantehemaa

The fourth Asantehemaa of the Asante Kingdom, Nana Konadu Yiadom I, holds the record as the longest-serving Queen in the over 300-year history of the stool.
Her reign spanned 41 years, from 1768 to 1809 — a period marked by consolidation, war, and the firm establishment of Asante customs and governance.
Her 41-year tenure provided stability during periods of both internal organisational change and external conflict.
She played a key role in preserving the traditions that defined the Golden Stool and in strengthening the institution of the Asantehemaa itself.
The second longest-reigning Queen was Nana Afua Serwaa Kobi Ampem II, the 13th Asantehemaa, who reigned for 39 years.
She was the biological mother of the current monarch of the Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Her reign spanned from 1977 to 2016, when she joined her ancestors.
The 10th Queen of the Asante Kingdom, Nana Yaa Akyaa, is also one of the longest-serving Queens.
She reigned for 33 years, with her rulership beginning in 1884 and ending in 1917.
