Asantehene Inspects 17-Year-old Baobab Tree He Planted in Barbados

The Occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has inspected a Baobab tree he planted in Barbados.

The tree was planted in 2008, during His Majesty’s first official visit to the Island country.

The seedling was planted on the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies on October 23, 2025.

This exercise was to immortalise His Majesty’s esteemed and graceful visit.

Seventeen years down the line, the King made a second visit to the campus on a three-day state visit on November 12, 2025.

“We were honoured when you gave us the gift of the Baobab tree which is in splendid growth on the periphery of this building {Stool-shaped administration block of the university},” the Vice Chancellor, Sir Hilary McDonald Beckles KA, remarked.
