Immigration Service Lays Slain Officer to Rest

The Ghana Immigration Service has offered a befitting burial to Assistant Immigration Control Officer (AICO) Cosmos Dakurah, who was killed in the line of duty earlier this month.
This was on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Badigriyiri-Konzokala in the Jirapa Municipality.
Officer Dakurah was described during the reading of tributes as a true martyr whose bravery will continue to inspire generations within the Service.
The funeral rites were marked by tributes, a 21-gun salute, and the laying of three wreaths on behalf of the Comptroller-General, Upper West Regional Commander and staff as well as the Service.
Honouring his memory, the Comptroller-General and Management of GIS reaffirmed their steadfast commitment to stand by the families of fallen officers and ensure that their courage and service are duly recognised.
Officer Dakurah was among two GIS officers who were attacked during duty at Pulimakom in the Upper East Region on November 2, 2025.
Meanwhile, AICO Philip Lartey, who was attacked alongside Dakurah, is still receiving treatment at the hospital for his injuries.
He was initially treated at the Basonde Clinic before being transferred to the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital, and is currently out of danger.
“Investigations are ongoing to bring the perpetrators to justice,” the GIS said in a statement.
