Lands Minister Urges Shift to Value-Driven Mining in West Africa

The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Kofi Armah Buah, has called on West African countries to move from resource-rich economies to value-driven mining.

The Minister said the transition was urgent if the sub-region wants mining to deliver inclusive and transformative development.

He told policymakers, industry leaders, and experts at the forum that exporting raw minerals alone cannot build lasting prosperity.

Mr Buah assured investors and partners that Ghana remains committed to a stable, predictable, and transparent investment climate for both mining and power.

According to him, responsible mining and reliable power must work together to anchor West Africa’s sustainable development story.

“This year’s conference convenes the right minds to explore how responsible mining and power can drive inclusive, transformative, and sustainable development in West Africa,” he stated.

WAMPEX 2026 will feature technical sessions, exhibitions, and policy dialogues on local content, energy security, and sustainable resource management.
