Black Stars Touch Down in USA Ahead of 2026 FIFA World Cup

The Black Stars have arrived in the United States of America in the early hours of today as they step up their final preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The team departed Cardiff shortly after their 1-1 draw against Wales on Tuesday, where substitute Caleb Yirenkyi scored to put Ghana ahead in Carlos Queiroz’s first game in charge but lead was later cancelled by Hull City forward Lewis Koumas who scored late to split the score.
The squad made the long journey across the Atlantic to continue their build-up on American soil.
Ghana will play their final pre-World Cup friendly against Jamaica on June 10 before fully shifting focus to the tournament proper.
The match against the Reggae Boyz will serve as the last opportunity for Queiroz to assess his squad and have them adequately prepared for the highly anticipated tournament.
The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia. They will open their campaign against Panama on June 17, before facing England on June 23 and concluding the group stage against Croatia on June 27.
Upon arrival in the USA, the team is expected to settle in quickly and begin light training sessions as they adjust to the conditions and time difference. With the World Cup now just days away, the entire squad and technical team remain focused on making a strong impression and progressing beyond the group stage.
This marks the beginning of Ghana’s campaign on North American soil, and expectations are high as the four-time African champions look to write a new chapter in their World Cup history.
