“Daughter of a Murderer”: I Will Never Utter Such Hateful Words- Abu Jinapor

The Member of Parliament for Damongo Constituency, Samuel Abu Jinapor, has reaffirmed his innocence amid growing suspicion and interest in identifying the person behind the ‘Daughter of a Murderer’ comment in parliament.

Denying allegations pointing to him as the mutterer, he said such “hateful” and “derogatory” comment have no place in his diction.

In a Facebook post addressed to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of IMANI Centre for Policy and Education, Franklin Cujoe, the former Minister for Lands and Natural Resources stated, “You have gotten it all wrong.”

“I did not and will never utter such derogatory and hateful words. That is simply NOT in my nature. I have said it multiple times and let me repeat, I have had a longstanding warm relationship with the Rawlings and it’s a matter of record.”

Following Speaker Alban Bagbin’s demand for the culprit to own up and apologise, Franklin took to his Facebook page to direct “Abu” to apologise.

He wrote, “Dear Abu, Just apologise to the lady for the uncouth remarks. But for Parliament, you really wouldn’t be fit to be her associate in intellect, respect and honour.”

Another post a few minutes before Jinapor’s response read, “Ah, which Abu are some of you talking about? Is it the same one l am talking about? I am describing an uncouth, uncivilised and brute behaviour.

“Why own it for someone who has said it wasn’t him? Ei; There are several Abus.Abu Gbangba, Abu Yahite, Abu Klikor, Abu Jon, Abu Saka, Abu Akpeffu, Abu Jinyakporla, Abu Gabbas. Nonetheless, the post remains. Abu should apologise to the very distinguished Lady. Carry the message to your Abu.”

During a Parliamentary debate on February 5, 2025, over the observation of a proper 60th anniversary celebration of the death of politician Joseph Boakye Danquah, Zenator who is the first daughter of former President Jerry John Rawlings rose to talk; however, she was denied due to the chaos the discussion was creating.

The Presiding Speaker, Andrew Asiamah, revoked the opportunity for members to contribute, restricting it to only the leaders.

Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo Markin was therefore given the floor during which a voice shouted at Zenator, “Daughter of the murderer, sit down.”

In reaction to the Minority Leader’s stern look at the commentator who was not captured on camera, he retorted, “But there is evidence her father murdered people.”
