KMA, Military Decongest Alabar, Aboabo Station and Appagyefie
The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has carried out a major decongestion exercise in parts of the city aimed at improving traffic flow and pedestrian safety.
The operation, conducted on Thursday by the KMA City Guards with support from the military, targeted Alabar, Aboabo Station and the Appagyefie stretch.
According to the Assembly, the exercise focused on removing unauthorised roadside traders and dismantling illegal tricycle stations that have been obstructing movement in the areas.
Officials said the persistent encroachment on pavements and road shoulders by traders and tricycle operators had contributed to congestion and safety hazards for both motorists and pedestrians, especially during peak hours.
The KMA noted that the decongestion drive forms part of its broader efforts to restore order, ensure free movement, and enforce compliance with city bylaws.
The Assembly has urged traders to adhere to its directives and refrain from selling within and along roads.
It warned that similar operations will continue across the metropolis to reclaim public spaces and maintain safer, more accessible streets.
