What Nananom Told the New Nyinsinasehene at Kumasi Traditional Council Meeting

Nananom of the Kumasi Traditional Council have offered profound words of guidance to Nana Gyamani Awere Ababio, the newly enstooled Chief of Nyinsinase, encouraging him to lead with humility, truth, and dedication to service.
The counsel was given during his oath of allegiance before the Council at the Manhyia Palace on October 20, 2025, where he formally pledged loyalty to the Golden Stool.
They reminded the new chief that true leadership is defined by character and service to others rather than status or privilege.
Nananom cautioned him to remain humble, eager to learn, and conscious that chieftaincy is a lifelong call to serve.
“Enstoolment is the beginning of learning,” one chief noted, urging him to allow humility and self-discipline to guide his reign.
The Council further advised Nana Gyamani to uphold the sanctity of the Great Oath, act truthfully in all matters, and avoid arrogance.
He was encouraged to focus on development in Nyinsinase, maintain close collaboration with his elders, and foster unity and peace within his community.
“Once you become a chief, your conduct must change,” another chief reminded him. “Attend Council meetings regularly and seek guidance whenever you need it.”
They also warned him to steer clear of illegal mining (galamsey) and any acts that could tarnish his stool, emphasizing that a chief’s honour lies in protecting his people and their lands.
“Bring progress to your people. Togetherness brings peace. Be truthful, humble, and serve with integrity,” they added.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene reaffirmed the Council’s advice, noting that humility and selfless service elevate a chief far beyond titles or power.
He praised Nana Gyamani for his sincerity and willingness to serve, revealing that his selection came after careful reflection and consultation.
“When the late chief passed, this man never thought of becoming a chief,” Otumfuo remarked.
“He only wanted to help resolve the issues, but I believed he was the right person. The family hesitated because there was an Alhaji and a soldier, even though they wanted him, but I personally asked for him.”
