Judiciary To Blame For Illegal Lorry Terminals – A/R MTTD Commander

The Police administration in the Ashanti Region has laid blame on the doorstep of the Judiciary over the illegal siting of lorry terminals in the Kumasi Metropolis and indiscipline among motorists causing both human and vehicular traffic in the city.
“We always arrest and process drivers who go contrary to the law for court but they will bounce back”, Regional MTTD Commander, Supt. Adu Boahen said on Manhyia-based Opemsuo FM morning show.
According to the Senior Police Officer, because lesser punitive punishments are given to those drivers going contrary to the law, some unscrupulous persons have taken advantage of it to turn the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) roundabout, and other places in the capital into lorry terminals without permission from the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA).
The concern comes after Ashanti Broadcasting Cooperation (ABC), operators of Opemsuo 104.7 FM, expressed worry about the development and vowed to lead a crusade against the growing indiscipline among such recalcitrant motorists.
Host of Manhyia-based Opemsuo FM, George Opoku Mensah, knows as Aguddey, on “Nkwantananso” show fumed “ABC and Asanteman will no more entertain indiscipline in Kumasi”.
Meanwhile, KMA’s Transport Officer, Mr. Randy Wilson, has promised support to get rid of every illegal lorry terminal and improve the movement of goods and services in and out of Kumasi.
