Interior Minister Commissions, Hands Over New Vehicles for Fire Service

The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mubarak, has commissioned and handed over a fleet of utility vehicles to the Ghana National Fire Service to strengthen mobility, improve emergency response, and enhance the Service’s operational efficiency nationwide.
The commissioned logistics included two Toyota Hiace mini buses, four Nissan Navara pick-ups, one Toyota Camry saloon vehicle, procured by the Government for the Service and a Honda motorbike, which was donated to the GNFS.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony on May 18, 2026, Mr Mubarak said the vehicles would enhance operational efficiency and support the Service in its mandate to protect lives, property, and critical national infrastructure.
According to the Minister, the commissioning demonstrates the Government’s commitment to strengthening the operational capacity of the Fire Service in its mandate to protect lives, property, and critical national infrastructure.
“These vehicles being commissioned today will support operational duties, improve mobility, and enhance emergency response capabilities of the Service,” Hon. Muntaka stated.
The Minister also disclosed that processes were far advanced for the procurement of 100 fire engines and other rescue equipment to support fire operations across the country.
He said the investment was aimed at addressing long-standing logistical gaps and ensuring that personnel have the tools needed to respond swiftly to emergencies.
Commending the leadership and personnel of the Service, the Minister acknowledged their dedication, professionalism, and sacrifice in often challenging conditions.
He urged them to ensure the proper maintenance and responsible use of the vehicles so that they serve the intended purpose of safeguarding communities.
Chief Fire Officer Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sapong expressed appreciation to the government for its continuous support.
She reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to efficiency and professionalism and pledged that the vehicles would be used and maintained responsibly to improve service delivery to the public.
