I’m Here To Say Sorry- Nana Addo To People Of Wa

His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo has personally apologized to the people of Wa over military brutalisation they suffered some days ago.
The president did this when he paid a courtesy call on the overlord of the Wala Traditional Area, Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV.
Addressing the overlord of the Wala land, he said, “one of the fair reason why I came was because of the incident that occurred here in Wa between garrison here and the people of Wa.
“The military leaders have been here and they promised you that they will deal with those who were responsible. “
“The Minister of Defence also came here in the company of the Ministry of Interior to render the apologies of government and to indicate that the government would also be responsible for the medical bills of those who were injured in the exercise.”
“And I’m happy that both commitments that have been made, have been respected and I was very happy to read in the newspapers that you yourself had come out to recognize that the promises that have been made have been kept and now we should put that incident behind us and go forward on a good note.”
“And I want to congratulate you on the very statesman-like pronouncements that you made on that occasion. You sure look like the senior traditional leader that you are.”
“So I have come to add my voice to that of the soldiers and the Minister for Defence to say how sorry I am about the incident and to let you know that we will do everything possible to make sure such an incident is not repeated.”
Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV in an interview had expressed his pleasure in sanctions meted out to the military officers who rampaged a street over an alleged stolen mobile phone and some amount of money belonging to one of them.
In a viral video, soldiers were seen brutalising some residents.
One of those who engaged in the act has been demoted while some have been reduced in ranks, with others in detention.
