I Will Personally Visit Dedesua to Verify Housing Project Completion Next Year – Otumfuo

The Monarch of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has pledged to closely monitor the progress of the Green City Housing Project at Dedesua in the Ashanti Region to ensure the agreed timeline is met.
His Majesty said he intends to personally visit the site by the end of 2027, which has been set as the completion date for the project.
The Asantehene made this known when the Minister for Works and Housing, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, paid a courtesy call on the Manhyia Palace on May 8, 2026, to brief him on the project.
“I will inspect the project sometime next year to see if it has indeed been completed,” he said.
Meanwhile, the King welcomed the decision to execute the project in phases and reiterated his stance against abandoned projects.
“I detest deception. If you are capable of building about 200 units, then do it,” he stated. His Majesty expressed satisfaction with the decision to develop the Dedesua land.
“It has been a long time since I released the Dedesua land. It has remained idle for too long. When John informed me they were ready to develop it, I was elated. Projects like this bring development. They will create jobs and increase accommodation,” he said.
The sod was cut for the development of the Green Housing Units on the long-designated 200-acre parcel of land at Dedesua.
The government plans to build 1,026 houses under the Green Housing Project, with full completion expected in five to seven years.
However, 212 housing units will be constructed in the first phase, which is scheduled for completion by the close of next year for occupancy.
