Union of Professional Nurses and Midwives Assures Unpaid Colleagues of Concrete Steps

The Union of Professional Nurses and Midwives, Ghana (UPNMG) has assured unpaid members of “concrete” steps for the release of their salaries by the government.

In a statement on Wednesday, it urged them to exercise restraint, adding that there will be a positive outcome soon.

“Leadership is also mindful of our colleagues who have not yet received their salaries. We share in your concerns and assure you that concrete steps have been taken. The outcome of these efforts will soon be evident.”

The said statement also confirmed that plans are far advanced for each nurse and midwife to receive the GHS 1,000.00 uniform allowance this month (September).

It directed members who do not receive the allowance when salaries are paid to contact the National PRO on 0245243138 for immediate assistance.

It comes after some unpaid nurses and midwives under the umbrella of the Coalition of Unpaid Nurses and Midwives Association of Ghana, hit the streets of Tamale on Tuesday, demanding the immediate payment.

According to the association, more than 7,000 of its members have not received their salaries since January 2025, with some cases stretching back to December 2024.
