GTEC Flags 62 Foreign Institutions as Unrecognised

The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has published a list of 62 international tertiary institutions it says are not recognised in Ghana, citing various quality assurance concerns.
In a public notice, the Commission cautioned students, employers, and the general public to exercise due diligence regarding any certificates or qualifications issued by the listed institutions.
GTEC said the institutions were flagged after reviews identified issues including lack of accreditation, inadequate academic standards, and unverifiable operations. The move is part of ongoing efforts to protect the public from substandard and fraudulent qualifications.
Among the institutions named are Indian School of Management and Studies, India; Breyer State Theology University, USA; Debest College of Science, Arts and Business, Ghana; Osiri University, USA; Atlantic International University, USA; Faith University Seminary (FUS), Ghana; Christian University College Monrovia, Liberia; and Rhema Bible Training College (RBTC), USA.
The Commission stressed that qualifications from unrecognised institutions will not be accepted for employment in the public service, further studies in accredited Ghanaian universities, or professional licensing where accreditation is required.
GTEC advised prospective students to verify the status of any foreign or local institution with the Commission before enrolling, and urged employers to request credential evaluation for qualifications obtained outside Ghana’s recognised system.
