GSS: We Are Not Recruiting Personnel For “2023 Census”

The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has disclaimed publication that it is recruiting new staff members for a census in 2023.

The fake communication, according to the GSS, emanated from a fake portal captioned: “GHANA STATISTICAL SERVICE RECRUITMENT PORTAL 2023: Approved Application portal For The Ghana Statistical Service Job Recruitment of new staffs for the 2023 Census”.

Persons behind the portal promise prospective victims jobs at a fee.

“These unscrupulous individuals are reportedly promoting the said fake recruitment portal on social media and are misleading/enticing unsuspecting members of the public to pay recruitment fees to them”, the Service said in a statement.

It noted that census is conducted after every ten years and therefore the next exercise will take place in 2031 since the recent Population and Housing Census (PHC) was carried out in 2021.

Additionally, it stressed that the GSS hasn’t sanctioned any individual or agency to conduct any recruitment exercise on its behalf.

“All GSS fieldwork is always communicated through official channels such as press statements, media advisories or publications on the GSS website ( Additionally, recruitment for projects is always launched and conducted via the website of GSS.”

It, therefore, urged the public to disregard the communication.

It also noted that “scrupulous’ persons behind the communication will be handed over to the police when caught.

Meanwhile, persons who have fallen victim to the scheme are directed to report to the GSS via its helplines and email address.
