Gov’t Advises Work-From-Home as Heavy Rains Disrupt Traffic Nationwide

The Government has advised employers to allow staff to work from home where feasible following a sustained downpour that has caused flooding and major traffic disruptions across several parts of the country.
Government Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, issued the advisory in a Facebook post on Monday morning.
“Given the sustained downpour and traffic disruptions, we advise employers to allow staff to work from home where possible,” he stated.
Mr Kwakye Ofosu stressed that public safety must take priority over workplace attendance during the adverse weather.
“Safety of life precedes work duties,” he added.
The advisory comes on the same day the Ministry of the Interior also urged the public to avoid unnecessary movement, stay off flooded roads, and cooperate with emergency services deployed to manage the flooding.
Several roads in Accra and other urban centres have been submerged, leading to gridlock and reports of stranded commuters since the early hours of Monday, June 29, 2026.
