GoldBod Hands Over GH¢12.65 Million to NACOC for 2025 Gold Seizure

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has presented GH¢12.65 million to the Narcotics Control Commission, representing half of the proceeds from the sale of 17 gold bars seized from illicit traders in 2025.
The payment was made under GoldBod’s reward policy for intelligence-led operations that lead to the recovery of gold.
Speaking at the presentation, GoldBod Chief Executive, Sammy Gyamfi, explained how the proceeds were distributed. He said 10% of the total proceeds was allocated to the informant whose credible tip led to the operation.
In addition, the GoldBod Board approved a further 20% as a special allowance for NACOC officers who took part in the operation, in recognition of their bravery and the risks involved.
The remaining 20% was awarded to NACOC as an institution for providing personnel and resources for the task.
Receiving the cheque, NACOC Director-General, Major General Maxwell Obuba Mantey, commended GoldBod for honoring its commitment.
He reaffirmed the Commission’s determination to continue working with GoldBod to clamp down on illegal gold trading in the country.
GoldBod said the presentation reflects its commitment to rewarding credible intelligence, deepening collaboration with state security agencies, and protecting Ghana’s gold resources through stronger enforcement.
