Joyce Bawah Mogtari Appointed to Office of Notary Public of Ghana

Presidential Adviser and Special Aide Joyce Bawah Mogtari has been appointed to the Office of the Notary Public of Ghana.
This was confirmed by the Deputy Attorney-General, Justice Srem Sai, in a congratulatory message on Wednesday.
“A few days ago, the Honourable Acting Chief Justice appointed my learned senior to the office of Notary Public of Ghana. Congratulations, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Esq.”
In a social media post, Joyce said her appointment extended beyond a legal designation, calling it a “solemn responsibility”.
She acknowledged her responsibility to safeguard the credibility of documents that cross borders, to attest to the truthfulness of declarations and to uphold the highest standards of both Ghanaian and international law.
About Notary Public
A Notary Public is a person authorised by a State to administer oaths, certify documents, attest to the authenticity of signatures and perform official acts in commercial matters such as protecting negotiable instruments.
According to the Notaries Public Act, 1960 (Act 26 of 196), the Chief Justice is empowered to appoint to be a Notary Public, any person whom he considers fit and proper to discharge the duties assigned to that office by law or by practice of commerce.
The practice, therefore, has been, and continues to be that, only a Lawyer of high moral character, and proven integrity, and not less than ten (10) years standing as a Lawyer is appointed as a Notary Public.
