GES Security Association Agrees to Resume Weekend, Holiday Duties

The Ghana Education Service (GES) Security Association has agreed to resume duties on weekends and holidays following an engagement with the management of the GES.

Members of the Association had withdrawn their services on weekends and public holidays since March 6, 2026, over concerns regarding remuneration for work undertaken during those periods.

The Director-General of GES, Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, met with representatives of the Association on May 12, 2026, to address the issue.

At the meeting, the leadership of the Association formally presented their concerns to GES Management with Prof. Davis acknowledging the legitimacy of the issues raised.

He assured the delegation that steps are being taken to address them fairly and promptly.

Following the engagement, the GES Security Association agreed in good faith to resume full duties with immediate effect, including weekend and holiday assignments.

The GES Management commended the leadership and members of the Association for their cooperation, professionalism, and commitment to ensuring the safety and security of educational institutions nationwide.

“The Service wishes to assure all stakeholders, including students, parents, and staff, that measures are being pursued to resolve the concerns raised, while maintaining a safe and secure learning environment at all times.

“GES remains committed to the welfare of all its staff and will continue to engage relevant stakeholders to ensure that all matters are addressed appropriately.”
