GAF Clears Over Half of Accra-Kumasi Expressway Corridor in Nine Weeks

The Ghana Armed Forces has cleared 89.5 kilometres of the Accra-Kumasi Expressway Corridor, representing 50.9 per cent of the total stretch, as of June 25, 2026.
According to GAF, the milestone was achieved in just nine weeks, using only 45 per cent of the estimated project duration.
The progress puts the clearance exercise ahead of schedule.
The Armed Forces said the remaining 86.1 kilometres of the corridor is expected to be completed over the next 13 weeks, as work continues to open up the full route.
The Accra-Kumasi Expressway is envisioned as a major trunk road designed to cut travel time between Ghana’s two largest cities and ease congestion on the existing N6 highway.
When completed, the corridor is expected to improve the movement of goods and passengers, reduce road accidents, and boost economic activity along the central corridor.
GAF indicated that work is ongoing to clear the remaining 86.1 kilometres of the route, with projections to complete it over the next 13 weeks.
The Armed Forces said the accelerated progress reflects the commitment to deliver the corridor on schedule to support the Government’s infrastructure and connectivity agenda.
