Amoawisi Kids Show Launches ‘The Countdown to BECE 2023’

As the clock ticks down to the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), tensions are high as candidates from both private and public schools prepare for the examination, scheduled from Monday, August 7, to Friday, August 11, 2023.

To address the pressure and tension mounting on these candidates, the Amoawisi Kids Show, which airs every Saturday at 10 am on Opemsuo Radio, has launched a segment dubbed “The Countdown to BECE 2023.”

In this segment, various candidates, health professionals, education directors, examination officers, and others come together to provide support and relief to the BECE candidates.

In an interview with Mr Emmanuel Oteng Agbley (Wofa Emma Junior) on the show, Dr. Christel Ayangba, a Health Practitioner from the Hope Xchange Medical Centre emphasized the importance of preparing adequately for exams with critical attention and consistency.

However, she cautioned against extreme stress and overlearning, as it could lead to sleepless nights and long-term effects on the candidates’ well-being. Dr. Ayangba also advised candidates to avoid relying on medicines, caffeine, or energy drinks to enhance learning capacity.

“Though it is important to prepare adequately, do not extremely stress the mind and the body by over learning which even leads to sleepless nights.”

“Taking in medicines, caffeine and other energy drinks to boost one’s capacity level of learning, has a long term effect on the candidate. I also plead with candidates to avoid fasting,” she added.

Mama Patricia Buckman, the host of Amoawisi Kids Show, shared her experience and stressed the significance of minimizing examination fear, as it can impact a candidate’s readiness and success. She urged parents to encourage and support their children throughout the examination process and beyond.

As the BECE approaches, the Amoawisi Kids Show aims to be a source of guidance and encouragement for the candidates, providing valuable insights and expert advice to help them navigate this important milestone in their education.
