Fuel Tanker Catches Fire at Ayensukrom

A fuel tanker caught fire today, October 6, in the vicinity of Ayensukrom No.2, a community near Bogoso in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality of the Western Region.

The incident occurred at around 9:45 AM.

The fire erupted when the tanker’s dashboard ignited after the vehicle struck a speed ramp. Fortunately, the quick-thinking driver of the tanker managed to escape unscathed and promptly alerted residents in the nearby town to seek refuge in a nearby village.

Safely parking the tanker, which was carrying diesel, the driver and local residents collaborated to douse the flames with water until fire service personnel arrived at the scene. Firefighters worked diligently for about two hours to fully extinguish the fire, though the tanker sustained significant damage during the incident.

No injuries were reported, but the resulting fire caused a considerable disruption to traffic in the area.
