FDA Launches WhatsApp Platform to Strengthen Food Safety in Dome Market

The Food and Drugs Authority has launched a new digital coordination platform to improve food safety monitoring and response in markets, starting with the Dome Market.
The Authority said it is partnering with Market Queens, Commodity Leaders and the Municipal Assembly’s Environmental Health Units to equip market leaders with the tools to safeguard public health.
The collaboration focuses on promoting food safety standards and encouraging prompt reporting of concerns. As part of the initiative, the FDA has officially launched the Dome Market Food Safety Digital Coordination WhatsApp Platform.
The platform is designed to allow real-time reporting of food safety concerns, enable faster response and coordination among stakeholders, and provide direct sharing of FDA regulatory information with market actors.
The FDA said the move reflects its commitment to building stronger partnerships to ensure every Ghanaian has access to safe and wholesome food.
Officials expect the digital tool to close communication gaps between regulators and traders and improve compliance with food safety practices at the market level.
