Edem Agbana Attends Thanksgiving Service Despite Victory Contention

An aspirant in the Ketu North Parliamentary Primary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Eric Edem Agbana, has attended a thanksgiving service over his “victory”.

This is in spite of the Electoral Commission’s report that the primary ended in a tie with a need for a re-run.

According to the EC, he polled 358 votes just as his biggest contender, John Adanu Zewu during the parliamentary primary which took place on Saturday, May 13.

But the former Youth Organiser of the party holds that he won by 360 votes with Adanu Zewu garnering 359 votes.

According to him, there will not be a rerun.

“Comrades, Keep Calm. I WON the election & nothing will change in Ketu North. Ignore the Jokes of a Possible Re-Run. IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN,” he posted on Facebook.

Later on Sunday, he shared a picture of himself and his family clad in white in a church.

“My family and I worshipped with the ARS church in Tadzewu this morning to thank God for victory in the just-ended parliamentary primaries. It was a tough battle, but God’s Grace saw us through. God is the Lifter of men,” he captioned the picture.

Background
Earlier count of the ballot papers showed that Edem had 360 votes, however, Adanu who seemed unsatisfied with the outcome called for a recount during which it was realised that both had 358 votes each.

It is reported that it was realised that Edem’s votes had two unstamped ballots while Adanu had one unstamped vote during the second count.

Other aspirants including Dr. Donald Agumenu had 210, Tanko 176, Prosper Yao Ledi 72, Leonard Nyakpo 8, and Don Emmanuel Agbanyo 7.

Two votes were rejected.
