Cultural School To be Established At Kumasi Cultural Centre

The Executive Director for the National Commission on Culture, Nana Otuo Owoahene Acheampong has conceived the idea to establish a cultural school at the Kumasi Centre for National Culture.

The school will train and certify foreigners who come to the country purposely to learn various aspects of the Asante culture and will be named after the 16th occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

During an introductory visit on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, Nana Otuo said the school will be named Otumfuo West African Cultural Studies and Resource Centre.

“I had to come here for your counsel, direction and blessings. Kumasi is the birthplace of the idea of the Centre on Culture and so it is high time we collaborate to redevelop the Kumasi Cultural Centre. Foreigners come into the country to learn the traditional dance, drumming, dressing, language and many more. After learning, they go just like that.”

“I aspire to establish a school at the Centre which will be called Otumfuo West African Cultural Studies and Resource Centre. This school will award certification in whatever they learnt.”

Otumfuo expressed his satisfaction and interest in the idea.

He directed him to book an appointment with his office to discuss how to turn the aspirations into reality.

The King will also direct the committee in charge of his 25th Anniversary to invite Nana Otuo for collaborations and planning towards the celebration.

The delegation was at the Manhyia Palace to introduce new executives of the Commission.
