CMC Secures New Markets In UAE And Saudi Arabia For Ghana’s Processed Cocoa

The Cocoa Marketing Company (CMC) Ghana Limited has secured firm offtake commitments in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia for Ghana’s semi-finished cocoa products, in a move aimed at boosting local processing and export earnings.
The agreements cover cocoa liquor, butter, cake and powder, and were secured through engagements led by CMC Managing Director, Dr Wisdom Dogbey.
CMC says the deals will help guarantee demand for products from Ghana’s existing processing facilities and support the government’s target to process at least 50% of the country’s cocoa locally.
In Dubai, CMC held discussions with the DMCC – Dubai Multi Commodities Centre on opportunities to link Ghanaian cocoa products with processors and traders across the Middle East and Asia.
The company noted that DMCC’s global trade hub provides a direct channel for Ghana’s value-added products to reach new buyers.
In Riyadh, CMC secured commitments to supply Ghanaian cocoa products to Saudi Arabia.
The company said the partnership aligns with the Kingdom’s expanding confectionery and food-processing industry and its Vision 2030 economic diversification agenda.
According to CMC, the engagements represent a key step in its strategy to diversify Ghana’s cocoa export markets, increase utilisation of domestic processing capacity, and ensure that value addition is backed by real and sustainable global demand.
Ghana currently produces over 800,000 metric tonnes of cocoa annually but processes less than half of it locally.
CMC said it will continue market development initiatives in the Gulf and Asia to create long-term offtake for Ghanaian processors.
