Ghana’s Embassy In Iran Closed- Ablakwa

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced the closure of Ghana’s embassy in Tehran as the war between Iran and Israel escalates with the exchange of missiles.
In a statement, Ablakwa said the closure takes immediate effect while efforts advance to evacuate all Ghanaian diplomats, students, professionals, and other compatriots in the country by land.
“To guarantee the safety of our embassy staff, Ghana’s embassy in Tehran has been closed with immediate effect.”
According to him, the action is in the best interest of Ghanaian citizens.
Meanwhile, he said the government of Ghana was monitoring developments in Israel for a suitable action.
“In the interim, we have instructed that embassy operations in Tel Aviv be reduced to the barest minimum, and all Ghanaians in Israel must maintain close communication with our consular department.”
He furthered that no effort would be spared in protecting Ghanaians.
“The Government of Ghana reiterates its demand on both parties to pursue diplomatic options and end hostilities.”
