Bulldog Sues Shatta Wale Over Defamatory Posts

Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson popularly known as Bulldog has dragged dancehall artiste, Charles Nii Armah Mensah popularly known as Shatta Wale to the High court over a series of defamatory social media posts against the former.

In his statement of claim, Bulldog who is now known as Bullgod through his lawyer pointed to the social media posts the defendant made over the death of artiste manager Fennec Okyere- who died in 2014- and others related to politics.

Bulldog finds the posts to, among other things, mean that he had a hand in the death of the Kwaw Kese’s former manager; he is without integrity and scrupulous, etc.

He, therefore, wants the statements of the dancehall artiste declared defamatory and malicious; a retraction and apology; restraining order from the court against the defendant and his agents; general damages for defamation; special damages for defamation; punitive damages for the malicious publication of falsehood etc.

Last week, Shatta wale who once was managed by Bulldog took to his Facebook page and threaten to expose the latter over the murder of artiste manager, Fennec Okyere.

His threat was in reaction to the release of the track list of his yet-to-be-released album by Bullgod.

“Bull Dog since u r bringing out secrets. You will tell Ghanaians. What happen to Fenicks Murder !! And I am not joking about this time !! I am ready to tell the court about what you told me about you and your men and how planned that foolish act get ready. This Akuffo addo won’t give you a murder chance to be on our streets !!! Watch how this ends !!! You can’t fight time !!!”, Shatta Wale posted on November 2.

This caught the attention of the public including the Ghana Police Service.

The Police in a statement said they had contacted Shatta Wale who was cooperating with them over the post.

In 2014, some assailants stormed the residence of Fennec Okyere who until his death managed artiste Kwaw Kese.

Bulldog was arrested and charged over his death due to an alleged threat he made against Fennec but Bulldog until now insists he is innocent.

In 2017, the charges against Bulldog were dropped over the state’s disinterest in continuing the case.
