Zipline Halts Drone Services

The Ghana Health Service has announced that Fly Zipline Ghana Limited has suspended its drone delivery services in the country.
The company, for the past six years, was into the delivery of vaccines and other essential health commodities to hard-to-reach areas of the country.
The suspension took effect on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, per a letter by the Western Regional Director of Health, Dr Paulina Clara Appiah.
“This is to notify your facility that a letter from Fly Zipline Ghana Limited, Sefwi Wiawso Distribution Centre, informing the region of the intended suspension of operations, effective Tuesday, 25* November 2025.”
As part of measures to mitigate the intended action, she said all District Health Directorates with vaccines at Zipline had been directed to immediately make arrangements to pick all their vaccines, while RHD had made an allocation to supply emergency quantities of anti-rabies and anti-snake to the district hospitals on November 24, 2025.
In addition, it said a directive had been issued for cold chain storage to be properly maintained throughout the process and ensure vaccine accountability, whereas District Hospitals are to ensure the constant availability of blood and blood products at their facility.
