Ayomsohene Swears Loyalty To Asantehene

Ayomsohene Nana Kodua Acheampong has sworn to stay true and loyal to the Monarch of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

He took the oath before the Kumasi Traditional Council (KTC) at the Manhyia Palace on March 25, 2024.

Nana Kodua was introduced by Baapanyin, elders and fetish priests of Ayomso to the Asantehene and the Council as successor to Oyeam Appiah Kubi II.

Taking his oath, he said, “I will continue the remarkable leadership of my predecessors. I won’t let Otumfuo down and I will avail myself of the service of Otumfuo at all times. If I go against this except in sickness, I violate the Great Oath.”

The Divisions of the Council, as they urged His Majesty to accept his request to pledge his allegiance, advised him to hold in high regard the Great Oath and leverage on his knowledge to develop his jurisdiction.

“Honour the Great Oath. Everyone is now focused on drawing home development so look for opportunities to develop yours as well,” the Kontri Division said.

The Akwamu Division for their part challenged him to repay the love and kindness shown him by his community with the needed development and provision of jobs to the youth.

“Continue from where your predecessor left off. Bring to the community what was not there and build upon what you have inherited.”

His Majesty in his counsel to the chief encouraged him to observe the authority of the Manhyia Palace and regard it as the source of his authority.

“I will let you take your oath but never forget about your responsibility to Asanteman. There is nothing like an inferior stool here, your service to Asanteman will give your stool the dominance it needs and deserves.”

He also counselled him to exert cordiality in his relations with his subjects and show respect to his elders.

Meanwhile, the Monarch charged the elders of Ayomso to assist the new chief with honesty.
