Asantehene Gifts Malta Prez, Wife Kente Fabrics

The President of Malta and his wife are returning to their home country with emblems of the Asante Kingdom which would indisputably be an aide-memoire of their unforgettable experience and visit to the kingdom.

The couple on their maiden visit to the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on Saturday was gifted beautifully handcrafted kente fabrics.

They are in Ghana on a three-day state visit which ends on March 9, 2024.

During their visit to the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi as part of their tour of the Ashanti Region on Saturday, the King and his wife presented them with magnificent kente clothes.

Presenting the fabric to the President George William Vella on behalf of His Majesty were the Paramount Chief of Bompata Traditional Council, Naa Effah Apenteng and Linguist Baffour Kantankrakyi.

Meanwhile, Lady Julia made the presentation of another piece to Her Excellency Miriam Vella.

The couple was aided in cladding their respective fabrics the traditional way and took some pictures with the King and his wife.

The Maltese First Family was escorted to the Manhyia Palace by Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Stephen Asamoah Boateng.

Among the President’s entourage were Malta’s Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Research and Innovation, Keith Azzopardi Tanti, Secretary to the President of Malta, Ms Rosette Spiteri Cachia and Malta High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E. Jean Claud Galea Mallia.
