Asantehemaa Pays Royal Visit to Asantehene on His Birthday

The Queen of the Asante Kingdom, Her Majesty Nana Konadu Yiadom III, has paid a rare royal visit to the Monarch, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, on his 75th birthday.

The Asantehemaa, accompanied by an entourage made up of traditional authorities, royals and her courtiers, visited the King at his residence at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on May 6, 2026.

The debonair Majesty stepped out in a crisp white kaftan, matching a pair of black shoes to meet the Queen.

The Majesties sat and enjoyed each other’s company, exchanging pleasantries and light-hearted conversations before a birthday cake was brought in by Lady Julia, the wife of the King, to complement the significant occasion.

The Queen and Lady Julia joined His Majesty to cut his cake as guests present heartily sang to the King to wish him well and pray for him.

“Happy birthday,” visibly excited Nana Konadu Yiadom said in a heartfelt message to the Occupant of the Golden Stool.

A regal tribute was also sung by the courtiers to hail the King and his unparalleled reign over the Kingdom, with their voices igniting a wave of excitement within the hall.

This is a significant milestone in the life and reign of the Occupant of the Golden Stool; however, it is being observed solemnly.

The Manhyia Palace calendar is clear, with no events planned to commemorate the globally acclaimed traditional leader.

Persons who wish to pay respects to the King in kind and substance will have the opportunity to do so on May 7, 2025, which will be the fourth Awukudae Festival of the year.
