Woman Stabs Ex-Boyfriend Over New Girlfriend

A 29-year-old woman has stabbed her former boyfriend at Sowutuom in the Greater Accra Region after discovering he had a new girlfriend.
Augustina Adoma’s discovery followed an unannounced visit to the taxi driver identified as Emmanuel Otabil at his residence on Thursday, morning.
“Upon seeing the victim with another woman, she allegedly poured a bucket of water on them and took the victim’s Samsung mobile phone before leaving,” a police statement said.
She later returned to the residence of the man in his absence and set some of his belongings ablaze.
The statement by the police recounting the incident read, “A confrontation ensued later in the evening when the victim confronted the suspect about the incident and demanded the return of his phone. During the altercation, the suspect allegedly took a knife belonging to an orange seller and stabbed the victim in the left side of his chest.”
Emmanuel was rushed to Racecourse Hospital and then transferred to Lapaz Community Hospital before being referred to the University of Ghana Medical Centre where he underwent emergency surgery.
The police say he is responding to treatment.
Augustina is currently in police custody, assisting with investigations at Tesano Police Station, where she also faces a separate assault charge under investigation.
The police used the occasion to caution the public to refrain from acts of violence, assuring that the law provides proper and peaceful channels for resolving grievances.
