The Monarch of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II will today, April 24, 2024, hold a durbar for all ethnic groups domiciled on his land.

The over ten groups and their chiefs will take their turn in the celebration of the 25th Enstoolment Anniversary celebration of His Majesty at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

Asanteman since time immemorial has opened its doors to all non-Asantes and proven to be more than home to such groups with most being bestowed lands by Asantehene and having their places of settlement named after their ethnicity. Such places in Asanteman include Dagombaline, Fante New Town, Anloga, and Zongo.

These ethnic groups are led by chiefs recognized by the Asantehene.

His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on numerous occasions has expressed his highest regard for these groups. According to him, Asanteman was built with such people and thus his utmost regard for them.

Today’s event is dubbed, “Ahoho Da”, to wit, “A Day with Pilgrims”.

Some chiefs expected for the event include Dagombahene, Fantefuohene, Wangarahene, Gonjahene, Ayigbefuohene, Nzemafuohene, Frafrafuohene, Kusasehene, Mamprusihene and Mossihene.

The event follows the Queen Mothers’ Day and Food Fair on April 22, 2024, which marked a chapter of the King’s anniversary celebration. It was a day he spent with queen mothers in his realm.
