Ga Mantse To Attend Climax of Asantehene’s 25th Anniversary
The Ga Mantse and President of the Ga Traditional Council, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has served notice about plans to attend the climax of the 25th Anniversary of the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The message was delivered by emissaries from the palace of the Ga traditional leader when Otumfuo sat in state to receive homage and well wishes on May 2, 2024.
Speaking on their behalf, Ambassador Parker Allotey, conveyed the felicitations of the Ga Mantse as he highlighted the “wise” leadership of Asantehene which he said has enhanced the image and recognition of the Kingdom locally and overseas.
“He (Ga Mantse) sends his prayer for God’s guidance and good health for you. He will personally come for next week’s celebration.”
Otumfuo will climax his 25th Anniversary with a grand durbar at the Manhyia Palace on May 12, 2024, with the presence of several dignitaries both from the country and beyond expected.
The Ga Mantse delegation included Nii Ahene Nunoo III, the Abola Mantse and Paramount Chief of Abola Traditional Area and Atofotse of the Ga state, Leni Capt Nii Kojo Nseni Mankattah IV, the Ga state Asafoatse Nukpa, Naa Aba Densua I, the Dankyera Manye, Naa Shika I, the Abola Atofonye and Ambassador Parker Allotey, the Protocol officer.
The relationship between Otumfuo and Nii Tackie was strengthened when the latter extended an invitation to Otumfuo for the final funeral rites of paramount Queen mother Naa Dedei Omaedru III in September 2023.
At the said meeting between Asantehene and a delegation sent by the Ga Mantse, Otumfuo emphasized the historical bond between the two ethnic groups, contrary to a presumed hostility between the two.
“Asantes and Gas have a lot that unites us. I had a good relationship with Nii Amugi II {the late King} way before I ascended this throne. I used to visit him quite often at his residence at Alajo because I stayed at Abelemkpe. Sometimes I visited him at his palace at Kaneshie.”
“There is a collaboration with his successor as well,” he stated and then asserted, “We are one.”
