ADASS Shooting: Woman Claiming I’ve Relented on Promise Isn’t Related to Victim- Asenso Boakye

According to the Member of Parliament for Bantama Constituency, Francis Asenso Boakye, the woman in a viral video claiming he has relented on his promise to absorb the medical treatment for the 16-year-old Adventist SHS student in the shooting incident isn’t her mother.

The woman in the said video was portrayed as the mother of the victim, indicating that no financial support had been received from the lawmaker since his promise.

“Regrettably, a video has surfaced on social media featuring a woman making claims that no assistance has been rendered to Suzzy and her family by me,” Asenso Boakye referenced in a statement issued on Thursday.

He further affirmed that the said woman is not related to the family.

“I have since spoken with Suzzy’s brother, Clement, who has been my primary point of contact throughout this process. He informed me that the woman in question is not known to the family and expressed his concern over the misleading nature of her statements.”

The former Works and Housing Minister noted that he offered financial support to the family after learning about the incident.

Additionally, he said through an arrangement between himself and the hospital, all medical bills have since been taken care of, ensuring that the family bears no cost for her care at the hospital.

He further affirmed his commitment to the rights and welfare of children thereby acting with care and discretion when a child’s well-being is at stake.

“Public commentary and social media banter must not come at the expense of a vulnerable child’s care and recovery. I appeal to everyone, including those engaging online, to prioritize Suzzy’s best interests and exercise restraint in their public remarks. I assure you that much is being done behind the scenes to assist with her care and recovery.”
