Accra Lions Announce Legend Lothar Matthäus As Co-Owner

Accra Lions Football Club have announced former World Cup winner and FIFA World Player of the Year, Lothar Matthäus as the Club’s shareholder.

The announcement was made at a presser today, May 23 and in a subsequent statement on Facebook.

The Club is now owned by Matthäus, Frank Opoku Acheampong and chairman Oliver König.

The former German national team captain believes “Ghana has always had a huge potential of talent and I’m thrilled by the idea of supporting the sportive development of young footballers with my knowledge and experience.”

Owners of the Club say their focus now is to tap into Ghana’s football potential and become a driving force in player development.

“The investment will particularly emphasis bolstering the training infrastructure to ensure the players receive excellent preparation,” its statement on Facebook.

Accra Lions are ninth on the League table with 44 points.
