Amidu and Agyebeng Could Have Been More Assertive and Impactful at OSP- Manasseh Azure

Investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni has expressed reservations about the occupants of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) whom he admits have been confronted with real-time obstacles in trying to make the office work.
According to him, Martin Amidu and Kissi Agyebeng could have reinforced hope in the Office by being a bit more “assertive and impactful”.
“But from my standpoint as an investigative journalist who has exposed some of the biggest corruption scandals in the country, I believe the first two Special Prosecutors could have been more assertive and impactful.
“They could have given Ghanaians more hope that, indeed, there was something special about the Office of the Special Prosecutor.”
The journalist however opined that the creation of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) stands as former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s towering legacy.
According to him, the creation is a testament to the fight against corruption.
“The Office of the Special Prosecutor however remains a towering legacy of Akufo-Addo in the fight against corruption.”
Martin A.B.K Amidu was named by the President of Ghana as the Special Prosecutor by the Akufo-Addo government in January 2018 and resigned in November 2020.
He was replaced by Kissi Agyebeng in August 2021.
