A/R: Police Arrest One Suspect in Connection with Attempted Armed Robbery
The Nkawie Divisional Police Command in the Ashanti Region has arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with an attempted armed robbery on the Hiakose-Nweneso stretch of road in the Manso Nkwanta District.
In a press release, the Command said the suspect, Francis Nsiah, was apprehended after sustaining a gunshot wound during the incident.
According to the police, the attempted robbery occurred on Friday, August 7, 2026, at about 11:00 p.m.
The Nkawie Divisional Operations Patrol Team received information that an armed robbery was ongoing between Hiakose and Nweneso and immediately moved to the location.
Upon arrival, officers said they heard gunshots and saw one of the suspected robbers fleeing into a nearby bush with a bag.
A pursuit and subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of an iPhone 14 and a bag believed to belong to some of the victims.
The police later received information that one of the suspects had sought medical treatment for gunshot wounds at a medical facility.
Officers proceeded to the facility and arrested Francis Nsiah, who was found to have sustained a gunshot wound to the left side of his buttock. He is currently under police guard and receiving treatment.
The Command said investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and to identify and apprehend other persons who may have been involved.
