A/R: Asafohene Hosts Free Mental Health Screening

As part of his corporate social responsibility, the Asafohene, Akyeamfoɔ Asafo Boakye, has organised a free mental health screening for residents of Asafo and surrounding communities in the Ashanti Region.

The event, which drew scores of community members, was aimed at raising awareness about mental health and encouraging early intervention.

Addressing attendees, Akyeamfoɔ Asafo Boakye cautioned the youth against the use of hard drugs, warning that such substances could lead to mental illness and other serious health complications.

Dr. Pearl Adu, a mental health specialist at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, also took the opportunity to educate the public on the importance of prioritising mental well-being.

She discussed practical ways to prevent and manage mental health challenges in Ghana.

Madam Afia Serwaa, a key speaker at the event, highlighted the theme for the programme: “Mental Health Awareness Month: Your Voice Matters.”

She explained that the month of May is recognised globally as the “Purple Month,” dedicated to promoting mental health education and advocacy.
