JICA Reaffirms Support for Ghana’s Industrial Transformation and 24-Hour Economy

The Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry has received renewed assurance from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to deepen cooperation with Ghana in support of the country’s industrial transformation agenda and the 24-Hour Economy initiative.

The commitment was conveyed when the Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Sampson Ahi, received the Chief Representative of JICA in Ghana, Mr Uchiyama Takayuki, at the Ministry in Accra on behalf of the Sector Minister, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare.

During the meeting, Mr Uchiyama expressed appreciation to the Government of Ghana and the Ministry for what he described as a long-standing and productive partnership.

He reaffirmed JICA’s continued commitment to supporting Ghana’s development priorities, with particular focus on boosting industrial growth, improving productivity, and advancing the 24-Hour Economy framework.

“JICA remains committed to working closely with Ghanaian institutions to promote sustainable economic transformation through targeted technical cooperation and development assistance,” Mr Uchiyama stated.

Responding on behalf of the Sector Minister, Hon. Sampson Ahi welcomed the assurance and reiterated government’s determination to strengthen collaboration with development partners.

He said the partnership will be crucial in advancing trade facilitation, agribusiness development, and industrial modernisation as key pillars of the government’s economic agenda.

The engagement signals stronger bilateral cooperation between Ghana and Japan at a time when the government is prioritising value addition, job creation, and round-the-clock productivity under the 24-Hour Economy initiative.
