NSA Suspends National Service Deployment for Graduates from 13 Tertiary Institutions Over Accreditation Issues

The National Service Authority (NSA) has announced that it will not be able to deploy graduates submitted by 13 tertiary institutions for national service this year due to accreditation concerns.

In a press release issued on August 11, 2026, and signed by Director-General Ruth Dela Seddoh, the NSA said the decision was taken after it engaged the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission to verify the accreditation status of institutions that had requested deployment for their graduating students.

According to the Authority, GTEC informed it that the following institutions do not currently have accredited status: Multimedia Institute of Ghana, Abbeam Institute of Technology, Star College of Communication, Standard College of Technology, Institute of Commercial Management UK, Christ Apostolic University College, Oxford Institute of Business and Journalism, Heaf Professional Colleges, NIIT Open Labs Ghana, Community University College Takoradi, SS Peter and Paul Pastoral and Social Institute, Adonai University College of Research and Entrepreneurship, and College of Tropical Agriculture.

The NSA explained that the position is based solely on accreditation information received from GTEC, the statutory body responsible for regulating and accrediting tertiary education institutions in Ghana.

It added that while deployment for graduates from the affected schools has been put on hold for now, they may be considered once their institutions resolve the accreditation issues with GTEC and the Commission formally communicates confirmation of their accredited status to the National Service Authority.

Upon receipt of such confirmation, the Authority will take the necessary steps to facilitate the processing and deployment of eligible graduates from those institutions, subject to the applicable requirements for national service.

The Authority has encouraged the affected institutions to engage directly with GTEC to address and regularise their accreditation status.

Prospective National Service Personnel from these schools have also been advised to liaise with their respective institutions regarding the status of their accreditation and to await official communication from the NSA following any confirmation received from GTEC.

The NSA assured the public that its verification and deployment processes are guided by applicable regulatory requirements and are intended to safeguard the integrity, credibility and transparency of the National Service Programme.

It further stated that it will continue to work closely with GTEC and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that only graduates from duly accredited tertiary education institutions are mobilised for national service, while also providing a pathway for eligible graduates whose institutions subsequently regularise their accreditation status.
