Licensed Tourism Enterprises in Ghana Grow by 6.1% in 2025- Minister
Ghana’s tourism sector recorded steady growth in 2025, with the number of licensed tourism enterprises rising to 7,109 from 6,702 in 2024, representing a 6.1% increase.
This was disclosed by the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Dzifa Abla Gomashie, who said the growth reflects renewed investor confidence and stronger regulatory compliance across the industry.
According to data released during a presser on August 10, 2026, the accommodation sub-sector remained the largest category with 5,424 licensed facilities in 2025, up from 5,210 in 2024, representing a 4.1% growth.
The Food, Beverage and Entertainment category also grew by 8.2%, moving from 814 licensed enterprises in 2024 to 881 in 2025.
The Travel Trade segment recorded the highest growth rate. Licensed operators in the category increased by 18.6%, from 678 in 2024 to 804 in 2025.
The Minister noted that the overall increase in licensed enterprises aligns with the sector’s performance in 2025, which also saw a rise in international arrivals, domestic visits and tourism revenue.
She added that the Ministry will continue to support licensing, skills development and quality assurance to sustain growth and ensure Ghana remains competitive as a tourism destination.
