1 Dead, 2 Injured In Renewed Clash At Chereponi

One person has died while two have been injured in a renewed clash between two communities in Chereponi in the North East region.

According to the District Chief Executive for Chereponi Hajia Zuweiratu Mada Nashiru, the clash between Tibongo and Junjoon communities also resulted in the burning down of 13 houses on August 24, 2022.

Speaking on Eyewitness News monitored by opemsuo.com, the DCE recalled that “Two months ago, Junjoon community was attacked by Tibongo community and then the following month, the Junjoon community also retaliated and this month it is the other way round-Tibongo attacking Junjoon community”.

According to her, the two communities are fighting over a parcel of farmland.

She explained that the dispute was taken to court, however, both sides refused to hear the final verdict of the court.

“This was taken to court. They were waiting for judgement but they refused to appear there claiming they were coming home to settle it themself. It didn’t even take them a single engagement and they started fighting again”.

She noted that the dispute has retarded development in the two communities.
