Year of Roads: Gov’t cuts sod to construct 4.1km in Asokwa Municipal

Some ongoing road constructuin in the Ashanti Region
Under the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Programme (GSCSP), government has earmarked to fix a total of 10 kilometres of road networks in the Asokwa Municipality in the Ashanti Region.
According to the Asokwa Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Chief Akwannuasa Gyimah, all the inner roads in the metropolis and adjacent streets will also be upgraded as announced by Vice president, His Excellency Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia in December last year
Addressing a durbar during a sod cutting ceremony, the MCE observed that communities within the municipality have challenges with their road networks with some becoming unusable particularly during the raining season
Atonsu-Bokro, one of the communities with the worse road networks in the municipality, would benefit from a total of 4.1 kilometres within the next seven months according to the government official.
Aside the Atonso-Bokro stretch of road, one of the communities with the worst road network in the municipality, the Gyinase and Asokwa roads, would also benefit from the road network improvement, he stressed.
The MCE however noted that it is the objective of the government to tar all the road networks in the country but since “Rome was not built in a day, it would be a gradual process.”
Chief Akwannuasa Gyimah also commended the MP for the area, Madam Patricia Appiagyei for her role played to bringing developments to the area.
