Withdraw Samuel Botchway’s Appointment or We Strike; CLOGSAG to Prez

The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has fiercely opposed the appointment of Samuel Adom Botchway as the Registrar of the Births & Deaths Registry, citing his partisanship.
According to Mr Isaac Bampoe Addo, the Executive Secretary, the appointee is a known member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and therefore unqualified to assume the position.
It has thus called on President John Dramani Mahama to withdraw the appointment.
“This Samuel Adom is a known activist of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and was once the District Chief Executive of Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District Assembly in the Central Region. At this Forum, we are pleading with His Excellency John Dramani Mahama as a matter of urgency to withdraw his appointment because it violates the supreme ruling for neutrality,” he said at a press conference on Friday, February 7, 2025.
He said members are ready to lay down their tools and withdraw their services if Adom Botchway’s appointment is not withdrawn immediately.
Mr Bampoe Addo affirmed his outfit’s commitment to ensuring neutrality.
“CLOGSAG will have no other alternative than to request its members not to work with him and subsequently lay down our tools. We want to state that CLOGSAG will fully collaborate with government to ensure that the Civil and Local Government Services are devoid of politically coloured persons.
“The negative impact of the appointment of political apparatchiks in the service will not be underestimated. CLOGSAG is encouraging the Births and Deaths Registry staff to safeguard the civil service and local government service and protect it religiously by resisting infiltration by politicians.”
