We Settle Problems Between Government And Its Employees: NLC Explains Mandate

The Executive Secretary of the National Labour Commission, Lawyer Ofosu Asamoah, has explained that the Commission aims to settle the misunderstanding between employees and employers, specifically Government and its employees.

He made this statement when reacting to their letter appealing to the teachers and non-teaching staff in the pre-tertiary schools to go to the negotiations table with Government’s key stakeholders after their industrial strike on Monday, July 4, 2022.

According to the Lawyer, the union’s demands were at the negotiation table with the Government and its key stakeholders but not the National Labour Commission.

He said, the National Labour Commission is aware that the teacher Unions are demanding their 20% Cost-of-Living Allowance but only the Government can offer them.

Lawyer Asamoah stated that Ghana is in a difficult time in which everyone in the country is affected by the impact so not their strike will turn the hardship situation in the country.

He urged the Teacher Unions to come down and meet Government key stakeholders on their demands but not strike which has a negative impact on education as far as teaching and learning are concerned.
