Washed Jukwa Bridge Temporarily Repaired, Opened

The Ministry of Roads and Highways has announced the temporary reconstruction and opening of the Jukwa bridge in the Central region of Ghana.

“Washout of Jukwa Bridge on the Cape coast – Twifo Praso Road is temporarily fixed and the bridge can now be accessed”, the Ministry said in a tweet on June 21, 2022.

A portion of the bridge was washed off by a weekend downpour in the area, cutting off Jukwa, a section on the Cape Coast – Twifo Praso Road and making it inaccessible to commuters.

Reports indicate that the river overflowed its banks during the rain and wreaked the havoc.

In a tweet on June 18, 2022, the Ministry directed motorists travelling between Cape Coast and Twifo Praso to rather use Cape Coast – Yamoransa (N1) – Assin Fosu – Twifo Praso (N8) Road.
