Vice President Consults Stakeholders Over Women’s Development Bank

Vice President Prof Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang has initiated stakeholder engagement ahead of the establishment of the Women’s Development Bank.

The veep described the joint meeting with representatives from the Bank of Ghana, the Ministry of Finance, market queens, a microfinance and susu operator, and committee members as “crucial”.

The meeting was held at her office on June 4, 2025.

In a Facebook post, she said the meeting offered valuable insight into the unique financial needs of the women despite their critical contribution to economic development.

“The discussions offered valuable insight into the unique financial needs of the women who often operate outside the margins of formal economic systems. These women, though frequently overlooked, play a vital role in the economic fabric of our nation.”

According to her, the engagement reaffirmed the need to design a system that responds meaningfully to their realities.

“We remain on course and committed to building a bank that truly empowers women and strengthens our economy from the ground up.”
